Lithuanian border guards prevented 37 irregular migrants from entering the country from Belarus over the past day, the State Border Guard Service (VSAT) reported on Sunday, marking the highest daily total recorded this year.

According to VSAT data, Latvian authorities turned away 134 people attempting to cross the border illegally on Saturday, while Polish officials reported no such incidents on Friday.

Since the start of 2026, Lithuania has blocked 483 irregular migrants at its border with Belarus. Last year saw over 1,600 attempts to enter the country unlawfully from Belarus, compared to 1,002 in 2024.

The ongoing migration crisis, triggered by Belarus in 2021, has led Lithuanian border guards to prevent 25,000 unauthorised entries from Belarus to date. Western officials have accused Minsk of orchestrating the influx.
