Lithuanian conservatives maintain lead in latest opinion poll
A new public opinion survey shows Lithuania’s conservative Homeland Union–Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS–LKD) remains the most popular political party, with support rising slightly since February, LRT reports.
If parliamentary elections were held this weekend, 15.1% of voters would back the TS–LKD, led by Laurynas Kasčiūnas, according to a March 18–28 poll by research firm Spinter Tyrimai, commissioned by news outlet Delfi. This marks an increase from 13.6% in February.
The ruling Social Democratic Party of Lithuania (LSDP), headed by Mindaugas Sinkevičius, and the Liberal Movement, led by Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, are tied for second place with 8.8% support each. The Liberals gained 0.5 percentage points since February, while the Social Democrats rose by 1.7 points.
Further down, the nationalist “Nemuno aušra” party, led by Remigijus Žemaitaitis, holds 5.9% support (down from 7.2% in February), followed by the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVŽS) at 5.5% (down from 6%). The Democratic Union “For Lithuania,” temporarily led by Virginijus Sinkevičius, stands at 4.8%, while the Freedom Party (3.5%) and the National Union (3.1%) round out the top eight.
Over a fifth of respondents (21.2%) remain undecided or refused to answer, while 14% say they would not vote at all. The survey, conducted via phone and online, included 1,013 participants aged 18–75, with a margin of error of 3.1%.
