Lithuanian MP Giedrimas Jeglinskas resigns to focus on defence expertise

Lithuanian lawmaker Giedrimas Jeglinskas has resigned from parliament to continue his work as a defence expert, state broadcaster LRT reported on Sunday.

Jeglinskas, a member of the Democratic Union “For Lithuania,” announced his decision in a Facebook post, stating he had submitted a formal request to the Central Electoral Commission to relinquish his seat. “This was not an easy but a responsibly made decision,” he wrote.

The former MP will join the US-based Atlantic Council’s network of analysts and a high-level working group at the Warsaw Security Forum. Both roles aim to provide strategic guidance to strengthen security in the Nordic, Baltic, and Polish regions, according to his statement.
