The Lithuanian road construction company Fegda has withdrawn legal complaints filed against politicians Dovilė Šakalienė and Mindaugas Lingė and issued a public apology, according to a statement reported by the Baltic News Service (BNS) on Monday.

In a comment provided to BNS, Fegda’s general director Jonas Jablonskis acknowledged that sending legal warnings to politicians—even when their statements harmed the company’s reputation—was a mistake. “We regret this and have no plans to repeat such actions in the future,” Jablonskis said. “Instead, we will persistently and transparently discuss the facts. We hope for honest discussions going forward, involving state institutions as well.”

Šakalienė, a Social Democrat, and Lingė, a conservative, had publicly disclosed receiving the legal threats on their social media accounts. Jablonskis claimed the company had faced a coordinated attack, which he described as competitive in nature, involving “many good people unknowingly.” He added that false claims circulated during this period had caused distress among employees and led to decisions that “were not always the wisest.”

While Jablonskis did not specify who was behind the alleged campaign against Fegda, he stated: “Today, we are certain that we must persistently speak in terms of facts, even when public discourse is dominated by misinterpretations and conspiracy theories.”
