Lithuanian probation service director disappears with firearm after domestic conflict

Lithuanian police are searching for Romas Ostanavičius, director of the country’s Probation Service, who left his home with a legally owned firearm following a domestic conflict, LRT.lt reports.

According to Ramūnas Matonis, head of the Police Department’s Communications Division, authorities received a call at 9:18 PM on Sunday regarding a conflict at a residence. The man involved subsequently left the premises with a firearm.

Matonis confirmed to LRT.lt that the individual in question is Ostanavičius, who was appointed to lead Lithuania’s Probation Service for a five-year term. In 2022, he was awarded the rank of internal service general. Police are actively searching for him.
