Lithuanian border guards prevented 33 irregular migrants from crossing from Belarus last week, the State Border Guard Service (VSAT) reported on Monday.

According to VSAT data, Latvian authorities turned back 65 unauthorised migrants on Sunday, while Polish officials recorded no such incidents on Saturday. Since the start of this year, Lithuania has blocked 285 attempts by irregular migrants to enter the country.

Last year, border guards registered 1,600 unauthorised crossing attempts from Belarus—up from 1,002 in the previous year. The influx of migrants to Eastern EU member states via Belarus began in 2021, with Western officials accusing Minsk of orchestrating the movement.
