Lithuania will see a sharp change in weather after a sunny Easter Sunday morning, with rain, wind, and even sleet expected by Monday, meteorologists warn.

Calm and spring-like conditions currently dominate the country, with mostly clear skies, no precipitation, and temperatures ranging from 1 to 5°C, Meteo.lt forecaster Tadas Kantautas told national broadcaster LRT. However, changes will begin in the afternoon.

Easter Sunday’s first half will remain dry, with temperatures rising to 10–15°C in most regions, though the Curonian Spit will stay cooler at 7–9°C. By afternoon, an approaching weather front will increase cloud cover, bringing rain first to western Lithuania before spreading eastward. Eastern areas may stay drier, but winds will strengthen to 15 m/s, with temperatures dropping as rain sets in.

More dramatic shifts are forecast for Monday. Overnight, a cold front will cross the country, delivering widespread rain and mixed precipitation—sleet or wet snow—in western regions by morning. Strong winds of 15–30 m/s will persist in the west, with temperatures hovering just above freezing (0–4°C) under thick clouds.

Monday’s daytime conditions will remain overcast with occasional rain and wet snowflakes in places. Winds of 15–20 m/s will continue, and temperatures will struggle to reach 5–10°C.

Little change is expected on Tuesday, with scattered showers and gusty winds up to 18 m/s. Temperatures will stay low, between 0–4°C at night and 4–9°C during the day.

A gradual improvement is forecast for Wednesday and Thursday, with precipitation easing and winds calming, though temperatures will remain cool—near 0°C at night and 5–10°C by day.
