Brawl erupts in Šeduva after remark about speaking Lithuanian

A mass brawl involving 13 people broke out in Šeduva, Radviliškis district, after a comment was made to a group of Roma about speaking Lithuanian, police reported on Wednesday.

The Šiauliai County Police Department confirmed the clash occurred on March 21 around 7:30 pm in a square near a local shop, involving men, women, boys, and girls, according to a statement obtained by the Baltic News Service (BNS). Five of the participants were reportedly intoxicated. The oldest was 46 years old, while the youngest was 14.

Police spent 10 days investigating the incident before launching a pre-trial investigation for disturbing public order. Authorities have not disclosed further details about the nature of the remark that triggered the confrontation.
