A Vilnius court has fined a man €4,000 for causing a non-serious health disorder after he collided with a minor girl while snowboarding at the Liepkalnis slope, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported on Tuesday.

The Vilnius City District Court found the 33-year-old resident of the capital guilty of negligence and violating the rules of conduct on the Liepkalnis slopes. The December 2023 incident left the girl with a severe leg fracture and required medical treatment costing over €16,000, which the court ordered the man to cover.

Additionally, the defendant must compensate the victim for non-pecuniary damage and reimburse the girl’s parents for material losses. The ruling may still be appealed.

According to case materials, the man failed to follow slope safety regulations while descending the hill, striking the girl who was skiing below him. The collision resulted from his lack of caution.
