Weather forecasts indicate that Lithuania’s current dry spell will be interrupted by rain starting mid-week, according to the Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service.

From Wednesday onward, light rain is expected in some areas, though conditions will remain mostly dry on Tuesday, the service said. A meteorologist at the service, Vytautas Patašius, noted that high-pressure systems will keep Tuesday largely stable, with partly cloudy skies, morning fog in places and localised black ice on roads.

“After midday the risk of hazardous conditions will pass and the day will turn warm and pleasant,” he said. Overnight lows on Tuesday were forecast between -2°C and +3°C, rising to 10–15°C during the day. The Curonian Spit was expected to be cooler, reaching 7–9°C.

From Wednesday the weather pattern shifts, with increased cloud cover and scattered light rain, especially in western regions. Winds from the south will strengthen slightly, blowing at 7–14 m/s. Overnight temperatures will stay positive, between 1°C and 6°C, while daytime highs rise to 11–16°C inland and 8–10°C on the coast.

Thursday is expected to bring more widespread rain across much of the country, with moderate southerly winds of 7–12 m/s. Overnight temperatures will remain mild at 2–7°C, climbing to 8–13°C during the day, though coastal areas will see 5–7°C.

By Friday the rain will taper off, with only light showers possible in some places and lighter winds. Overnight temperatures will dip back below zero, from -2°C to +3°C, while daytime highs reach 11–16°C inland and 7–10°C along the coast.

The weekend is forecast to bring drier conditions as high pressure returns, with northerly winds and overnight temperatures slightly above freezing. Daytime highs are expected to reach 12–17°C.
