Firefighters have localised a blaze at a smokehouse in Kaunas district, Lithuania, but significant damage is reported.

Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT reported on Monday that the two-storey building in Eigirgala village, Domeikava Eldership, caught fire just before 10 a.m. The smokehouse was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived.

Emergency services deployed seven water tenders and two aerial ladders to tackle the fire. Due to the building’s complex layout, crews could not enter the structure and fought the flames from outside. Two water supply lines were laid to the scene, with four firefighting teams operating breathing apparatus and six B-class monitors in use, according to the State Fire and Rescue Service.

No injuries were reported, but the facility sustained major damage. The fire was declared contained shortly after midday, though crews remained on site.
