Krikščionių sąjunga and Lietuva – visų to merge into single political force
Two non-parliamentary parties, Krikščionių sąjunga and Lietuva – visų, have reached a preliminary agreement to merge into a single political organisation, their leaders announced on Monday.
Aleksandras Nemunaitis, chair of Lietuva – visų, said the parties share a common view on family values, Christian principles and responsible governance. Both Nemunaitis and Rimantas Dagys, chair of Krikščionių sąjunga, have confirmed their intention to work together.
“We aim to pool our strength and build a strong political team that will truly represent the interests of families, communities and regions,” Nemunaitis said in a joint statement.
Dagys said the parties are united not only by policy but by shared values. “In these uncertain times and amid Lithuania’s demographic crisis, the priority is to unite people willing to work steadily and patiently for Lithuania’s future,” he said.
The final decision on the merger will be made at general meetings of both organisations, where organisational and legal steps required for the official union will be formalised.
In October 2024 parliamentary elections, Krikščionių sąjunga ran on a joint list with the centrist Tautos ir teisingumo sąjunga and received 1.38 per cent of the vote, failing to cross the 5 per cent threshold. Lietuva – visų did not participate in that vote and in 2020 won just 0.97 per cent of ballots, also below the threshold.
Nemunaitis currently serves on the Vilnius city council, elected on the National Union list.
