Prisoner serving sentence for sexual exploitation of minors complains of officer misconduct

Saturday 21st 2026 on 13:00 in
prison complaint, Remigijus Jakštys, sexual exploitation

Remigijus Jakštys, a former youth mentor serving a prison sentence for sexually exploiting minors, has filed a court claim alleging misconduct by a prison officer.

The Regional Administrative Court is reviewing an administrative case brought by Jakštys seeking compensation for non-pecuniary damage, the court confirmed to ELTA.

According to the court representative Sigita Gamulėnienė, Jakštys is seeking €150 in compensation plus 5% annual interest on the awarded amount from the date the administrative case was filed until full enforcement of the court ruling.

Dispute over officer’s conduct

Jakštys filed the claim after a dispute with a prison officer at Pravieniškės Prison No. 1 in Lithuania last May. In his complaint, Jakštys alleges the officer failed to identify himself, refused to show official identification, did not activate the duty video recorder when requested, and refused to provide its number. He also claims the officer used insulting language, causing psychological stress and a sense of humiliation.

Jakštys states he experienced uncertainty, a feeling of injustice, and institutionalised indifference that demoralised him and exerted emotional pressure.

Background of the conviction

Jakštys was sentenced in April 2024 to four years and three months in prison for sexually exploiting minors. The sentence combines multiple convictions, including a December 2025 ruling for abusing three students under the age of 16.

According to court documents, between November 2018 and February 2020, Jakštys allegedly committed sexual offences against three minors, some of which occurred abroad. The court rejected his claim of not realising the victims were underage, finding instead that he deliberately targeted minors by cultivating an image of a successful young professional and manipulating their trust.

Jakštys has previously filed court claims related to prison disciplinary measures and conditions, including complaints about a lack of privacy and comfort in the shower area.
