Artist Jüri Kass opened his exhibition “Kassi asi” at Vabaduse Gallery on November 6, ERR reports. The show explores the relationship between the artist and his work.

Kass’s career as an artist and designer has focused on objects and physical forms. The exhibition considers how objects carry traces of the past while taking on new meanings in the present and pointing towards the future. Personal memories can become symbols with meanings beyond their original stories.

Visitors are invited to find their own memories, feelings and experiences in the objects. Presented in unusual states or situations, familiar things take on new meanings and value. Through them, Kass raises questions about time and place, holding on and letting go, loss and discovery.

Kass graduated in design from the Estonian State Art Institute. He is a member of the Estonian Artists’ Association and works in graphic design, drawing, printmaking, painting and installation. He also teaches art. He has held nearly 20 solo exhibitions and received awards in Estonia and abroad.

His works are held in the collections of Kumu Art Museum, the Győr Art Museum, the Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design, the City of Tallinn, and private collections. The exhibition is open until December 6, 2026.
