Rapper Clicherik says he has only recently begun to feel he can call himself a musician, after nearly 10 years making music, ERR reported. The 25-year-old, whose real name is Erik Soasepp, made the remarks in an interview with Owe Petersell on Vikerraadio.

Music runs in the family: his father, Koit Soasepp, is a soloist at the Finnish National Opera. Clicherik lived in Finland until the beginning of this year because of his father’s work, but this year’s Eesti Laul brought him back to Estonia.

For years, he travelled by ferry after performances. “Being able to go home and sleep after a performance is a great luxury compared with before,” he said. Previously, he would stay on a friend’s sofa or in a hotel, then take the first ferry home.

During his time in Finland, Clicherik learned Finnish and released a Finnish-language solo album. He said he had picked up a Finnish accent and sometimes spoke Finnish with an Estonian accent and Estonian with a Finnish one.

He remains connected to Finland, where his family still lives, and continues to work with his Finnish producer. He has considered returning to Finland to make a new project, but said he prefers to focus on one thing at a time.

In a couple of years, Soasepp and Max Õispuu’s duo, Clicherik & MÄx, will mark 10 years together. Clicherik said the duo gave his music career greater momentum. He also said he and MÄx try to spend about half an hour after concerts taking photos and signing autographs for fans.
