A woman convicted of possessing drugs for distribution will serve a prison sentence and forfeit 50,591 euros after the Lithuanian Court of Appeal accepted a prosecutor’s appeal, LRT reported.
Police found 64 foil packets containing yellowish powder, later identified as a mixture of carfentanil and methadone, during a search of the woman’s home in early 2025. They also found 50,591 euros in cash.
On December 16, 2025, the Vilnius Regional Court convicted E. J. of illegally possessing a very large quantity of drugs with intent to distribute and imposed a prison sentence. It did not order extended confiscation, attributing most of the cash to her mother and returning the rest to E. J.
A prosecutor appealed, seeking the confiscation of all the money. The Lithuanian Court of Appeal assessed E. J.’s lawful income and expenses, the circumstances in which the cash was found and other evidence in the case.
The court noted that the money was found in a room where drugs and packaging materials were kept. Some of the cash was inside a cosmetics bag with E. J.’s identity document. The court ordered all 50,591 euros transferred to state ownership.
