Police arrest man over suspected daytime drug sales in Riga park
Riga Municipal Police arrested a man suspected of selling drugs in Vērmanes Garden, a park in Riga, in broad daylight on October 23, LSM reported.
Just before 1 p.m., staff at the municipal police video surveillance centre noticed a group of people in the park. Camera footage appeared to show one man taking a clear bag containing what may have been tablets from his underwear and handing them to others in exchange for money.
Police officers searched the man after his arrest and found a substantial amount of cash and two tablets in his bag and jacket. He said the tablets were cold medicine.
State Police officers were called to carry out further procedural actions. Drug possession, acquisition and distribution are punishable under criminal law.
