Vjatšeslav Leedo begins serving prison sentence in Tallinn
Vjatšeslav Leedo has begun serving his sentence at Tallinn Prison after being convicted of causing the insolvency of Saaremaa Shipping Company, ERR reports.
Kirsi Pruudel, head of media relations for the prison service, told ERR that the start and end dates of Leedo’s imprisonment and the prison where he is being held are confidential. She confirmed only that he had begun serving his sentence. Tallinn Circuit Court had previously told ERR that he would serve it at Tallinn Prison.
In June, the Supreme Court’s decision finalised the convictions of Leedo, Tõnis Rihvk and Lennart Viikmaa for causing the company’s insolvency, leaving their sentences unchanged. Leedo was given a suspended sentence of two years and six months, of which he must serve two months in prison.
In mid-October, Tallinn Circuit Court rejected Leedo’s defence lawyer’s request to postpone the start of his sentence.
