Setomaa kindergarten held its second Olympic-style games in Värska, bringing together young children for several hours of sport and play, ERR reported.

The event featured activities inspired by Olympic sports, including horseback riding and the high jump. Setomaa kindergarten director Sanna Saarestik said the games aimed to make sport accessible through fun activities, such as throwing balls through Olympic rings.

Children who took part had different views on the challenges. Jasmin said the high jump was the hardest event, while Emilia enjoyed throwing small balls. Kristofer found riding a horse difficult.

Saarestik said teachers had chosen activities that engaged different muscle groups and encouraged movement. She added that the kindergarten could help children be more active and might also involve parents in future games.

The organisers hope that introducing children to sport through play could inspire some of them to compete in the Olympics one day.
