Riga City Court has upheld former Prosecutor General’s Office administrative director Ilze Grīnhofa’s claim against the office, ruling her dismissal invalid, LSM reported. The judgment is not yet in force and can be appealed within 20 days of the full ruling becoming available.

The Prosecutor General’s Office ended Grīnhofa’s employment on June 18, citing a loss of management’s trust. It said the decision followed a review and was based on a provision of the Labour Law allowing an employee to be dismissed for unlawful conduct that causes the employer to lose trust. The office did not disclose the findings of the review.

The office announced in April that it had opened a review over suspicions of possible unlawful conduct by Grīnhofa. Prosecutor General Armīns Meisters ordered her suspension from her duties on April 24 while the review was underway. On June 19, her deputy responsible for information technology, Ģirts Māleris, left the job at his own initiative.

Alēns Mickevičs has since been appointed administrative director. Grīnhofa had worked at the Prosecutor General’s Office for four years and previously served as a member of the State Audit Office Council. In early 2021, she was one of three candidates for the state auditor post.
