Lithuania is considering buying an artificial intelligence system developed by US company Palantir for its military, Defence Minister Robertas Kaunas told TV3 News on Wednesday, LRT reported.

Kaunas said the country needs technology to bring together large volumes of data, analyse it using artificial intelligence and help manage aspects of battlefield operations. He said Lithuania, like other NATO member states, needs such software.

TV3 News reported that the first seven years of using the system would cost nearly 200 million euros, with the final price potentially higher.

Kaunas said the planned use of funds might need to be revised if Lithuania decides to buy the system, as its final cost is not yet known.
