Estonia’s electricity and gas system operator Elering has launched a public tender to build a crisis management centre next to its headquarters, ERR reported. The project is expected to cost 28.7 million euros excluding VAT.
The centre will be built at Kadaka tee 42 and must meet the security requirements for a national defence object. A dilapidated building on the site was demolished this spring.
Elering crisis preparedness unit head Hannes Kont said the company had started a broad programme to improve crisis readiness and invest in infrastructure security. The new centre is intended to allow system dispatchers to monitor and manage the electricity and gas networks through secure data links. Elering has not disclosed further details about the centre’s technology or security arrangements.
Elering aims to sign the construction contract by early 2027. Kont said the centre could be completed by the end of 2028 or early 2029.
