President Gitanas Nausėda worked in 27 municipalities during the final year of his first term and has made 12 regional work visits in his second, LRT reported, citing the news outlet Lrytas.
The figures exclude other visits to districts that were not designated as presidential workdays in the regions. Twenty of the 27 visits in the final year of his first term took place after Nausėda announced on December 7, 2023, that he would seek re-election.
He worked in the Jonava, Ignalina and Švenčionys districts between the first and second rounds of the 2024 presidential election. After winning re-election but before his inauguration, he visited Pagėgiai Municipality.
After taking the oath for a second term on July 12, 2024, Nausėda worked in Kalvarija Municipality before the end of that year. He made 10 regional trips in 2025, including a return visit to Jurbarkas, where he had met the local community the previous spring. In 2026, he has made one such visit, to Vilkaviškis District in April.
Earlier this year, Nausėda also visited and spoke with residents of Kapčiamiestis who oppose the establishment of a military training area there. That visit was not listed as a regional workday.
Presidential communications adviser Tomas Beržinskas told Lrytas that regional visits had been an important part of Nausėda’s work during both terms and would continue when his schedule allowed. He said the president was currently focusing on foreign visits and hosting foreign leaders in Lithuania ahead of the country’s presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2027.
