Latvia moved to winter time overnight on Sunday, October 25, turning clocks back one hour, LSM reported. The change took place at 4am.
Clocks will move forward again at 3am on March 28, 2027, when daylight saving time begins.
Although the European Union has discussed ending seasonal clock changes, no common decision has been made. Many member states say a full impact assessment is needed, including analysis of economic costs and effects on society and health. Latvia continues to follow the existing schedule.
Under Latvian government regulations adopted on October 26, 2010, clocks move forward by one hour at 3am on the last Sunday in March and back by one hour at 4am on the last Sunday in October. Daylight saving time was first introduced in Latvia in 1981.
