Latvia’s Supreme Court has rejected parliamentary candidate Raimonds Lejnieks-Puķe’s complaint over a decision by the Central Election Commission, LSM reports. The commission had declined to review his challenge to vote-counting records from several polling stations because the deadline had passed.

The court found that Lejnieks-Puķe had not cited circumstances that could justify missing the deadline. Its decision cannot be appealed.

On October 27, the court is due to issue a ruling on his separate application to overturn the commission’s approval of the official results of the 15th Saeima election and to seek compensation for non-material damage.

Lejnieks-Puķe is a candidate for the Saskaņas centrs political alliance, which did not win seats in the 15th Saeima. The Supreme Court has received applications from two people concerning the election and its results; it has not yet decided how to proceed with the other application.
