Lithuanian customs officers have seized about 3,000 vials containing suspected doping substances in an investigation into smuggling, LRT reports. The Customs Criminal Service said the investigation began after officers found several hundred vials of suspected prohibited medicinal products in parcels being sent from Lithuania.

Investigators later seized another shipment containing 300 clear vials filled with suspected doping substances. They identified a Vilnius resident who works independently as the person sending the parcels to various foreign countries.

A search of the suspect’s home uncovered 2,056 more vials. The suspect was detained on suspicion of illegally possessing doping substances with intent to distribute them and of smuggling. The investigation is being led by a prosecutor from the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The suspect was later ordered not to leave Lithuania and to report periodically to a police station. Authorities also temporarily restricted the suspect’s ability to dispose of movable and immovable property and bank accounts, to secure possible confiscation and the enforcement of other procedural decisions.

The seized substances included BPC-157, TB-500, KPV, ARA-290, CJC-1295 DAC, MOTS-C, IPAMORELIN, SERMORELIN, AOD 9604, KISPEPTIN-10 and TESAMORELIN. Preliminary estimates put the value of the prohibited medicinal products at more than 100,000 euros. Customs investigators also noted that the suspect had luxury cars worth 170,000 euros.

In April, customs officers seized about 6,000 postal parcels prepared for dispatch abroad that contained illegal peptides. Investigators suspected that a Vilnius company was selling the substances online. During searches of its warehouse and production laboratory, officers found BPC-157 and seized about 40,000 bottles containing 2.5 million capsules.
