Lithuanian residents lost about €124,600 in two fraud cases and a theft, police said on Friday, LRT reported. Police have opened pre-trial investigations into all three incidents.

In Kaunas, a woman born in 1939 reported that €13,500 was stolen from her home on Thursday. A caller who claimed to work for an apartment services company told her she had paid her bills with counterfeit money and said someone would come to photograph the cash she had at home. A man arrived at about 11.07am, took the money from a table and left.

A man born in 1974 told Marijampolė County police that he lost €11,129 after receiving a text message on October 14 about an alleged unpaid fine. He clicked the link in the message and entered his online banking details.

A man born in 1969 reported to Klaipėda County police that he was defrauded of €100,000 after filling in an online advertisement for investment services in late 2024. Unknown Russian-speaking individuals contacted him by phone and through Telegram and persuaded him to invest in an online platform.
