Two prison officials arrested over banned items entering prison

Two Prison Administration officials have been detained on suspicion of abusing their positions and bringing prohibited substances and items into a prison, LSM reported, citing the Internal Security Bureau.

Prohibited items and substances were found and seized from the detainees. They were intended for distribution inside the prison and posed a significant threat to prisoners and staff, as well as to the institution’s order and security, the bureau said.

The officials have been placed in custody. The bureau reminded the public that no one can be considered guilty of a crime until guilt is proven in accordance with criminal procedure.
