Lithuanian border guards turned back 31 irregular migrants at the border with Belarus in the past 24 hours, the State Border Guard Service said, LRT reported.

Latvia’s border service, which is facing a large influx of irregular migrants, denied entry to 27 people on Wednesday. Polish officials said they had continued to record no such cases.

Officials prevented more than 1,600 people from entering Lithuania from Belarus at unauthorised locations last year and 1,726 so far this year. About 26,300 people have been stopped from entering the country since the migration crisis caused by Belarus began.

Migrants began arriving in eastern European Union countries in 2021. Western countries blamed the Minsk regime for the influx.
