Lithuania is holding its 20th Constitution exam on Thursday, dedicated to marking the 100th birthday of former president Valdas Adamkus, the first patron of the exam, LRT reports.
Adamkus said the initiative strengthens civic responsibility and encourages people to help build the state and uphold democratic values. He said he hoped the exam would help people find their bearings as Lithuania continues to develop as an independent country that respects human rights.
Participants can take the exam online from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at konstitucijosegzaminas.lt. They will compete in categories based on age and legal knowledge. Awards will go to the participants with the most correct answers, including school pupils, adults, law students and people with legal qualifications in Lithuania and Lithuanian communities abroad.
The exam has become one of Lithuania’s longest-running civic initiatives. Nearly 26,000 people took part last year, in Lithuania and in countries including Ukraine, the United Kingdom and Belgium.
