Catholic sources report rising demand for exorcisms

Catholic sources say demand for exorcisms is growing, ERR’s programme Pealtnägija reported. The programme’s latest story examines how a person believed to be possessed by an evil spirit is said to undergo the expulsion of demons.

Psychiatrists are sceptical of exorcism and warn against inappropriate treatment, while demand for the procedure is reportedly increasing. The Philippines, which has Asia’s largest Catholic community, is one focus of the phenomenon.
