Organisers will present the Ene Mihkelson cultural interpreter award at a literary event on Friday, ERR reports. The programme, dedicated to the Estonian poet and writer’s life and work, begins at 1 p.m. and will be streamed live on ERR’s culture portal.

The event, titled “Elusalt, olla luule” (“Alive, to be poetry”), will take place at the Estonian Literary Museum. Speakers will discuss Mihkelson’s work and poetry, and organisers will present her previously unpublished collection “Kõnelev piir” (“Speaking Border”), due to appear in Loomingu Raamatukogu 2026/14.

Presentations will be given by Ene Mihkelson Society members Janika Kronberg, chair of the Estonian Writers’ Union’s Tartu branch; Tanar Kirs, a lecturer in Estonian and comparative literature at the University of Tartu; and Mart Velsker, an associate professor of Estonian literature at the university.

Marin Laak, a senior researcher at the Estonian Cultural History Archives of the Estonian Literary Museum, and Katrin Kern, an editor at Loomingu Raamatukogu, will discuss the collection’s origins and publication. The programme will conclude with a poetry selection based on “Kõnelev piir”, arranged by Aija Sakova and performed by Sakova and Garmen Tabor.
