Vanemuine theatre’s new musical, The Wedding Party in Gadgetville, centres on adult romance, with Nele-Liis Vaiksoo playing Doctor Ave, who unexpectedly falls in love with a rabbit named Mihkel, ERR reported.

Oskar Seeman plays Mihkel, Doctor Ave’s chosen partner, who is a chimney sweep. Vaiksoo said the actors wear rabbit teeth for their roles, adding that they are comfortable.

Director Ain Mäeots said the story is for anyone who has been in love at a young age. The musical is not aimed at very small children, he said, but at those who are beginning to explore the world. Lotte, Bruno and Roosi are children in the production, while the story focuses on adults.

Performer Pirjo Jonas said the show could prompt parents to talk with their children about growing up, first feelings and young love. Gloria Raudj ärv plays Lotte, while Sofia Soosaar plays Roosi. Both said they had been fans of Lotte since childhood.

Vaiksoo said the story has a personal parallel: she also married her own Mihkel this year. She joked that she would marry Mihkel several times in the musical this year, so the stamp would be firmly in place. She added that when love at first sight strikes, there is nothing to do but give in to the feeling.
