Elron will open cafes on its Tallinn-Tartu trains after introducing new Škoda electric trains on the route, ERR reports. Maitseelamused OÜ, a prepared-food producer owned by chef Joel Ostrat, won the tender to provide logistics and catering services.
The cafe menu will include hot and cold drinks, sandwiches, desserts, salads and snacks. Elron plans to expand the selection in the future.
“With the introduction of Škoda trains on the Tallinn-Tartu route, we are taking Elron’s long-distance service to a new level,” said Katri Kruuse, Elron’s long-distance service manager. She said preparations for the cafes were nearing completion and a catering partner had been selected.
Ostrat said he wanted to bring restaurant-quality food and solutions to the modern, fast trains, offering passengers something they might not expect to find on board.
Elron, or AS Eesti Liinirongid, is a state-owned operator of passenger train services. Its trains carried 7.66 million trips in 2025.
