Writer Mihkel Mutt says he has received a demand from a law firm representing Juhan Viiding’s heirs to immediately remove his biography of the poet from sale, ERR reported.

The demand concerns both the print and e-book editions of “Juhani evangeelium” and sets a deadline of October 23, Mutt said. He added that the heirs’ representatives would extend the deadline by a week if he immediately acknowledged his mistake and promised not to publish Viiding’s farewell letters in any form in future.

“Which I naturally confirm. So, October 30,” Mutt said.

The book covers Viiding’s life, work, associates and fate. A controversy erupted after Mutt published Viiding’s farewell letter without the heirs’ permission. Viiding’s daughter, Elo Viiding, has been among those who criticised the decision.
