Artist Pilvi Tammoja’s exhibition “Horse, Ladder and Golden Slippers” opened at Kastellaanimaja Gallery on October 15, ERR reports. It presents an installation imagining a sinking paradise, with a dreamlike, spectral mood and a sense that terrible and inexplicable things are happening in the night.

Tammoja said the work grew from memories of an attic in her childhood home. “There are places that stay with you, and so it is with my childhood attic. At first, I was not allowed into the room. Later, it became a refuge and a little paradise,” she said.

The exhibition brings together jewellery, objects and drawings in a world where gods, monsters and magic are woven into everyday life. Tammoja said she gives tangible form to thoughts and memories using discarded objects and materials, and explores the stories hidden in found items by creating alternative narratives for them.

She added that she has been thinking more about her roots and the place she comes from. The exhibition includes fragments connected to her home and ancestors alongside her artworks.

“Horse, Ladder and Golden Slippers” is open until November 15, 2026.
