Polish Border Guard officers will help Latvia monitor its border with Belarus from October 19 to November 1, LSM reported.

The Polish officers will provide theoretical and practical support to Latvia’s State Border Guard, sharing their professional experience and knowledge. The cooperation is intended to strengthen both countries’ border surveillance work.

It also aims to promote public safety, prevent and detect crimes and other offences, and strengthen cooperation in combating cross-border crime. The Polish experts are taking part under an agreement on cross-border cooperation signed by the two countries’ border guard services on October 2.

Earlier this year, border guard officers from Finland, Estonia and Lithuania also supported their Latvian colleagues. Latvia’s State Border Guard said international cooperation and partners’ assistance help safeguard the state border and strengthen security.
