Estonia’s parliament will consider a no-confidence motion against the government at 3 p.m. on Monday after 34 MPs signed the request, ERR reports. The session will be broadcast on ERR’s website.
The debate will begin with speeches by a representative of the motion’s initiators and Prime Minister Michal. Each MP may ask the prime minister up to two questions. Party-group representatives will then take part in discussions before parliament votes. The motion will pass only if at least 51 MPs, a majority of the Riigikogu’s full membership, support it.
The motion is expected to fail because the Social Democratic Party and some MPs known as “window-seaters,” including Tõnis Mölder, did not join it.
The signatories are Urmas Reinsalu, Kalev Stoicescu, Jaak Valge, Anastassia Kovalenko-Kõlvart, Henn Põlluaas, Ants Frosch, Peeter Ernits, Varro Vooglaid, Kalle Grünthal, Aleksandr Tšaplõgin, Andres Metsoja, Jaanus Karilaid, Aivar Kokk, Tõnis Lukas, Lea Danilson-Järg, Priit Sibul, Mart Maastik, Rene Kokk, Helle-Moonika Helme, Mart Helme, Siim Pohlak, Rain Epler, Evelin Poolamets, Arvo Aller, Anti Poolamets, Leo Kunnas, Meelis Kiili, Vadim Belobrovtsev, Aleksei Jevgrafov, Andrei Korobeinik, Vladimir Arhipov, Helir-Valdor Seeder, Martin Helme and Lauri Laats.
After the no-confidence debate, Michal will answer questions from MPs about falling exports and the effects on the economy, as well as declining public confidence in personal safety and Estonia’s national security policy.
Justice and Digital Affairs Minister Liisa Pakosta will answer questions about bringing foreign prisoners to Estonia and lobbying meetings. Defence Minister Martin Herem will respond to questions about a framework agreement for loitering aerial munitions and an agreement to develop the Aidu wind farm, including the resulting national defence risks.
