Six architectural proposals have been submitted for a school-kindergarten in Vilnius for the children of German brigade personnel, the Vilnius Development Company announced, LRT reported.
A jury will assess the proposals for urban integration, architectural quality, rationality and functionality, and the price of services. Urban, architectural and functional solutions will each account for 30% of the final score. The jury will also consider how well each design fits the city, as well as its coherence, sustainability, innovation, layout and use of universal design principles.
The first-place winner will receive 15,000 euros, the runner-up 9,000 euros and the third-place entry 6,000 euros. The winner will also be offered a design contract. The results are expected in the fourth quarter of this year.
The planned education facility on Išganytojo Hill is expected to serve about 100 preschool children and nearly 900 school pupils.
Germany pledged in summer 2022 to deploy a brigade-sized military unit to Lithuania. About 5,000 German brigade personnel and civilians are expected to move to the country, some with their families. Most of the brigade was planned to relocate by 2026, and Germany’s defence minister, Boris Pistorius, has said it is expected to reach full operational capability in 2027.
