Antanas Bosas, courts, Vilnius District

A legal dispute over compensation for the demolition of businessman and former MP Antanas Bosas’s house in Vilnius district is continuing more than two years after the building was demolished, LRT reports. Bosas is seeking reimbursement for construction and demolition costs, but the municipality disputes the amount claimed.

Bosas is currently seeking 465,850.91 euros from Vilnius District Municipality, plus annual procedural interest of 5 percent, the municipality’s adviser Kęstutis Butvydas told ELTA. In June 2026, Bosas reduced his claim from 476,667.56 euros to 449,785.91 euros. On October 13, he increased it by 16,065 euros.

Butvydas said the municipality submitted additional questions to the court in October about the expenses Bosas wants reimbursed. The court asked Bosas to respond and the municipality to state its position on the increased claim.

Bosas is seeking compensation for the costs of building and demolishing a house on his land in Aukštuolė village, arguing that the construction permit was ruled unlawful and annulled. The Lithuanian Supreme Court ordered the buildings to be demolished in 2024 and directed the municipality to cover 90 percent of the construction and demolition costs.

The court had ordered Bosas to demolish the buildings within six months. The house, a granary and a sauna were subsequently removed. Courts found that the land was designated for forestry, where building a homestead was not permitted, and that the municipality should not have issued the construction permit.
