The Union of Greens and Farmers (ZZS) will re-elect its board after failing to enter Latvia’s 15th Saeima, LSM reported, citing Agriculture Minister Uldis Augulis, who is also a member of the party’s board.

Augulis said the party leadership had accepted responsibility for the result. ZZS is preparing for a congress to review the outcome and elect a new board. He said he wanted the board to include “new people with new faces.”

The current board is chaired by Armands Krauze, who said the day after the election that he was ready to step down. Krauze was previously dismissed and later resigned as agriculture minister in connection with the timber industry case. Augulis is the board’s deputy chair. Other members are Augusts Brigmanis, Viktors Valainis, Artūrs Graudiņš, Jānis Dinevičs and Krists Bergans-Berģis.

ZZS failed to reach the five per cent threshold and will not be represented in parliament for the first time in its 24-year history.
