A new two-act family musical, “The Wedding Party in Gadgetville,” will premiere at Vanemuine Theatre on October 17, ERR reports. The production features music by Priit Pajusaar and is based on a book by Janno Põldma and Heiki Ernits published in 2023.
The story follows Mihkel, a rabbit and chimney sweep who has just moved to Gadgetville. After hurting his toe one morning, he visits Dr Ave and meets her for the first time. His injury is treated, but he then sees yellow sparks and is struck by a mysterious illness. Ave soon catches it too.
Rabbit Adalbert knows the cure: love, which can only be treated with a wedding. But frog Raimond has plans of his own for Ave.
Director Ain Mäeots said love stories tend to be either sentimental or end badly. He praised Põldma for writing a story that is funny and joyful, ends happily and can still surprise even a hardened cynic.
Composer Pajusaar said this is the funniest of the Lotte musicals so far and would appeal to audiences young and old. The production’s creative team also includes lyricist Leelo Tungal, visual designer Heiki Ernits, set designer Iir Hermeliin, music director and conductor Martin Sildos, and conductors Aleksandr Bražnik and Kristi Jagodin.
