Lithuania’s General Prosecutor’s Office and Special Investigation Service say they have no information that MP Agnė Bilotaitė has been named a suspect in a pretrial investigation, LRT reports.

However, while Bilotaitė remains a member of the Seimas, Lithuania’s parliament, she has legal immunity and cannot be formally named a suspect by law enforcement, the report said.

The Central Electoral Commission approved Bilotaitė’s request to give up her parliamentary seat last week. Her mandate ends on October 14. She has said she is leaving for personal reasons and needs to focus on her health.

Parliament Speaker Juozas Olekas said on Tuesday that he had unverified information raising questions about her reasons for leaving, but declined to disclose it, saying it needed to be checked. Bilotaitė has denied that her decision is connected to any law enforcement investigations.

Conservative Kęstutis Masiulis, next in line on the party’s election list, is expected to take her seat.
