Seimas Speaker Juozas Olekas says he has unverified information that raises questions about Agnė Bilotaitė’s reasons for leaving parliament, LRT reported. He declined to disclose what the information was, saying it still needed to be checked.
Asked on Tuesday whether the information could be linked to law enforcement activity, Olekas gave no direct answer. He said discussing it could interfere with various processes and added that the circumstances might become clear over time.
Olekas also said he had not spoken with Bilotaitė about her reasons for leaving. He noted that the public explanation was personal reasons, while colleagues had confirmed the version. Bilotaitė previously cited personal reasons for her decision.
The Central Electoral Commission approved Bilotaitė’s request to give up her parliamentary seat last week. Her mandate ends on October 14. Conservative Kęstutis Masiulis, next on the Homeland Union–Lithuanian Christian Democrats’ electoral list, is expected to take her place.
