No irregular migrants were recorded at Lithuania’s border with Belarus in the past 24 hours, the State Border Guard Service said, according to LRT. The border has been quiet for more than a week, since Lithuanian officials turned back 32 people who tried to cross illegally on October 2.

Latvian border guards turned back 58 migrants on Saturday, while Poland recorded no attempts to cross its border illegally on Friday.

Lithuania has prevented nearly 1,700 irregular migrants from entering the country so far this year. Last year, there were more than 1,600 attempts to enter Lithuania illegally from Belarus, compared with 1,002 the year before. Since the start of the migration crisis, Lithuanian border guards have prevented more than 26,300 foreigners from entering illegally.

The influx of migrants from Belarus to the EU’s eastern member states began in 2021. Western countries accuse the Minsk regime of organising it.
