Police seek witnesses after man is shot dead in Vilnius
Police in Vilnius are seeking witnesses after a man was shot dead during a conflict on Friday evening, LRT reports.
The shooting happened at about 6:25 p.m. in the courtyard of an apartment building on Savanorių Avenue. A man born in 1973 allegedly fired a legally held firearm at a man born in 1981, who died at the scene from a gunshot wound to the chest.
The suspect has been detained, and the firearm was seized. Police have opened a pre-trial investigation into murder. Under the relevant Criminal Code provision, murder is punishable by imprisonment for seven to 15 years.
Police are asking witnesses, anyone with information relevant to the investigation, and anyone with video footage of the incident to call +370 700 56007 or the emergency number 112.
