United List wins Latvia’s election as turnout hits record low
The United List won Latvia’s 15th Saeima election, while voter turnout fell to a record low of 51.79%, LSM reported. LSM and LSM Youth explain in a video what happens after the vote.
Six of the 14 party lists passed the 5% threshold. The United List secured 41 seats, the largest number won by a party in the history of Latvia’s parliament. Latvia First won 17 seats, Sovereign Power/Association of Young Latvians 15, the National Alliance and the Progressives 10 each, and New Unity seven.
Provisional results show that 806,641 eligible voters cast ballots, including votes sent by post.
