Singer Helen Randmets said she was swept up in the Backstreet Boys’ concert in Düsseldorf, where many women wore white after the band’s dress-code appeal. She described the experience on ERR’s Ringvaade programme.
Randmets said the concert’s greatest value was the strong personal connection fans have with the band. She was 16 when the group began in 1993 and remembers following them in German music magazines that reached Estonia. “I know all their songs by heart,” she said.
She said the concert opened with the singers descending from above on surfboards. The group were in good vocal and physical shape, danced throughout the show and had carefully planned everything on stage, she said.
Randmets also noted that Düsseldorf was where the band first became popular in Europe, before returning to the United States and building its profile there.
