Strong winds prompt 84 firefighter callouts across Lithuania

Firefighters were called out 84 times on Friday to clear damage caused by strong winds, with the Klaipėda region needing the most assistance, LRT reported.

No one was injured, but several trees fell onto cars. Firefighters also cleared trees from roads and power lines, according to the Situations Coordination Division of the Fire and Rescue Department’s Forces Management Board.

The Lithuanian Hydrometeorological Service recorded the strongest gusts at Ventės Ragas in Šilutė district, where winds reached 29 metres per second. Gusts reached 25 metres per second in Šventoji, 24 in Šilutė, and 22 in Klaipėda and Klaipėda district.
