Man fatally shot during street conflict in Vilnius; suspect detained

A man was fatally shot during a conflict on Savanorių Avenue in Vilnius on Friday evening, LRT reports. Police detained a 1973-born man suspected of using a legally owned firearm.

Police received a report of a conflict at about 6:30 p.m. The victim, a man born in 1981, was found fatally injured in a public place, and emergency medical workers pronounced him dead at the scene.

The caller reportedly said he was being attacked by armed men and later left the scene. Witnesses cited by Delfi.lt said the suspect stayed at the scene after firing and waited for emergency services to arrive.

Police officers and criminal investigators are working at the scene to establish what happened and who may have been involved.
